Artist Statement.

In the ever-evolving landscape of art and technology, my work exists at the nexus where traditional artistic methods intersect with the boundless possibilities of artificial intelligence. I am an artist dedicated to exploring and expanding the frontiers of visual perception through the innovative use of Stereo Layering— my patent pending technique where I use AI, photomontage, and physical layering to hack observers perceptions offering a new experience of the creation of art.

Each piece I bring to life is an invitation to journey beyond the conventional, to engage with art in a way that is profoundly personal and universally resonant. I seek not just to hack the human perception but to harmonize it with the complexities of our digital age. My artworks are bridges connecting the past with the present, the digital with the physical, and the known with the unexplored.

My mission is to push the boundaries of what art can be and do. Each work is a testament to the beauty of a post AI era and the power of imagination, standing as a landmark in the ongoing dialogue between humanity and technology. In a world awash with change, my art offers a space for contemplation, connection, and wonder—inviting viewers to see beyond the surface, to imagine what lies ahead, and to consider their place in the tapestry of human history.

Artist History.

My artistic journey is a story of discovery, experimentation, and a deep-seated belief in the power of imagination to shape reality. Growing up on the border of Montana and North Dakota, my path to becoming an artist was anything but conventional. My early experiences in the Air Force as a cryptologic Arabic linguist, and later with the United Nations in Baghdad, were pivotal. They not only honed my skills in communication but also instilled in me a profound understanding of diverse perspectives and the transformative power of storytelling. It was during these formative years that I began to explore the potential of multimedia art, setting the stage for a lifelong endeavor to merge art with the audience's experience.

Throughout my career, I've embarked on various innovative projects, each one a stepping stone in my quest to understand how imagination influences our perception of reality. From creating politically charged art with Iraqi Dinar to developing immersive experiences for corporations like Ford and Amazon, my work has consistently sought to challenge and redefine the viewer's engagement with art. Notable projects like The Art Face Off and Goose Cube, as well as collaborations with the Space Needle and Paul Allen's Vulcan group, were all driven by the idea of making the viewer an active participant in the art.

The pinnacle of this journey is the creation of Stereo Layering, a groundbreaking medium that embodies my belief in the imaginative power of the viewer. And now my debut novel that attempts to break apart reality enough for the reader to piece it back together how they experience the world.

Artist, Author, and Consciousness Explorer.

Steven Ochs is an artist and author whose work operates at the intersection of technology, storytelling, and consciousness. His debut psychological thriller, Pudding Heroes: The Rising Child, has garnered unconventional acclaim for its unique ability to rewire the reading experience, fusing page-turning suspense with genuine intellectual risk and an emotional jolt few books can match. The work has been described as, "It's not fiction. It's a consciousness event."

At the core of the novel is Ochs's own "Pudding Theory," a bold framework suggesting that human consciousness actively shapes reality through a hidden force he calls Lumina. The book serves as a test case for this theory; readers report that the story doesn't just entertain them—it changes them. This interactive concept extends beyond the page, as Ochs continues to produce artwork, including interactive installations and sculptures, that directly blend with and expand the narrative world of Pudding Heroes.

Ochs's multidisciplinary approach is rooted in a diverse background. Before his work in fiction, he pioneered Stereo Layering, a visual technique that embeds optical tension into flat surfaces to create images that behave like psychological illusions. His career has spanned a wide spectrum, including time as an Arabic linguist at the UN, with other jobs ranging from humble work like janitor or Spanish translator to completing global scale commissions for large organizations like Amazon, Accenture and the Space Needle. His early artistic practice involved creating protest art drawn directly on Iraqi dinar.

Across all his work, Ochs's focus is singular:
• Build stories that reflect back to the viewer.
• Create artwork that returns the human to the center of the universe.
• Craft ideas that change the people who hold them.

He lives in Oregon with his wife, daughters, and a growing vault of strange and beautiful things.
